Can Foreigners Buy Freehold Property in Malaysia?
Short answer: yes. Freehold tenure itself is not restricted to Malaysian citizens — foreigners, including Singaporeans, can generally buy freehold strata units subject to the state’s minimum purchase price and, for some property types, State Authority consent.
Freehold is different from eligibility. A unit can be freehold and still be a Bumi-lot restricted to Bumiputera buyers, or fall under a scheme that requires extra approval. Always check the specific lot allocation, not just the tenure label.
The Iconic by PGB is marketed as freehold with a published International-lot allocation across both towers, which is the combination most foreign buyers are actually looking for when they ask this question.
Confirm current eligibility, the applicable state minimum purchase price, and remaining International-lot stock with the sales team before you shortlist a unit.
